News Banner
Location
Section titled “Location”The news banner appears below the tab bar (Generate / Activity / Costs / Settings), above the main content area. It is visible on all tabs.
Banner types
Section titled “Banner types”| Type | Color | Purpose | Dismissible |
|---|---|---|---|
| New model | Green dot | A new AI model is available on fal.ai | Yes |
| Feature update | Blue dot | A modelBridge feature has been added or improved | Yes |
| Service notice | Red dot | Scheduled maintenance or outage on fal.ai | No |
| Tip | Gray dot | Workflow suggestion or best practice | Yes |
Green banner — new AI model available. Shows the model name and a “Try it” button that opens model search with the name pre-filled. Clicking “Try it” switches to the Generate tab and searches for the model automatically.
Blue banner — modelBridge feature update. Shows what’s new with a “Details” link to documentation.
Red banner — service notice or maintenance. Cannot be dismissed. Shows until the issue is resolved or the notice expires.
Gray banner — tip or workflow suggestion. Subtle and easily dismissed.
Behavior
Section titled “Behavior”The banner shows one item at a time — the highest priority unread item. When you dismiss it, the next item appears on the next plugin startup, not immediately. This keeps the plugin focused on your work, not on notifications.
Text that doesn’t fit scrolls slowly. Hover to pause.
Critical notices (red) override the “Show news updates” setting in Settings and cannot be dismissed by the user.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”In Settings, the “Show news updates” toggle controls whether non-critical banners appear. Critical service notices always show. The toggle text explains this: “Critical service notices (maintenance, outages) will always be shown regardless of this setting.”
