What Happens When Your Subscription Changes

When your trial ends

If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, your payment method is charged automatically and your subscription begins. Nothing changes in the plugin — it continues working seamlessly.

If you cancel during the trial, the plugin works until the trial end date, then switches to read-only mode.

The plugin shows a reminder banner when your trial has 3 days left, and a persistent reminder on the last day so you’re never caught off guard.

When your subscription expires

The plugin switches to read-only mode. This means you can still open the plugin, browse models, view your generation history, view your cost tracking and reports, access Settings, and see all your data exactly as you left it.

What you cannot do in read-only mode: generate new content, start background jobs, use Dual Mode, optimize prompts, export reports, or add external costs.

Your data is never deleted because of a billing change. Everything is preserved locally and waiting for you when you reactivate.

When your payment fails

If a payment fails, LemonSqueezy retries automatically over several days. During this time the plugin continues working normally — there is a grace period so a single failed charge doesn’t interrupt your workflow.

If all retries fail and your subscription expires, the plugin enters read-only mode as described above. The plugin shows a warning banner during the grace period so you have time to update your payment method.

To update your payment method, click “Manage subscription” in Settings → Subscription, or sign in at app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders with the email you bought with. The retries and the grace period are LemonSqueezy’s — they take the payment, so they are the only ones who can retry it.

When you reactivate

Enter your license key again (or a new one) in Settings → Subscription. Your previous data — generation history, cost tracking, learned constraints, installed models, settings, everything — is still there. No re-configuration needed.

When you switch computers

Your license works on two computers, for your own use, and one generates at a time. Switching is automatic: the computer you start working on takes over, and the other one is told the next time it tries. Nothing to release, nothing to re-enter. A generation that is already running always finishes and downloads.

To move to a third computer:

1. On the machine you no longer need, open Settings → Devices, expand This device and click the release icon — paste your license key to confirm; it’s in your LemonSqueezy receipt email
2. On the new machine, enter the same license key during setup or in Settings
3. If the old machine is gone, free it up from your LemonSqueezy account instead, then paste your key once on the machine you kept

Your local data (history, costs, settings) stays on each machine independently — it is not synced between computers. Each computer has its own local data store.

When you’re offline

modelBridge keeps working for 30 days between successful license checks — online or off. The window is the same either way: it is how long a verified license stays valid on your machine, not an extra allowance for being disconnected. Generating itself needs the internet anyway, so this only ever matters if you can reach fal.ai but not modelBridge’s license service.

When it runs out, generating pauses until the next check succeeds. Reopen the panel while you are online and it checks again on its own; pasting your license key in Settings checks immediately. Your key is in your LemonSqueezy receipt email, and re-entering it does not use up a device slot.

When your license is revoked

In rare cases — such as a refund or chargeback — your license may be revoked by LemonSqueezy. The plugin enters read-only mode with a message explaining the situation and how to contact support.
